BOARD MEETING

SCANDIA VALLEY TOWN HALL

MAY 6, 2008---6:00 P.M.



Board Members Present: Mike Becker, Dr. Bill Faber, Rick Lindmeier, Rob Webb, Gordy Schenian



Mike Becker called meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.



The November 13, 2007 Board Meeting minutes were approved as printed. The minutes were posted on the Board at the Scandia Valley Town Hall and also printed in the December 23, 2007 issue of the Morrison County Record.



Treasurer’s Report:

Rob Webb passed out a printout of income and disbursements for the fiscal year beginning on January 1, 2007, ending on December 31, 2007. The financial statement showed a balance of $7,895.88 as of January 1, 2008. Treasurer’s Report approved as printed

Rob Webb will file an annual report including the financial summary, the approved 2008 budget, and other forms, which might be needed, with the Morrison County Board of Commissioners, the DNR, and the MPCA as per governmental requirements.



Grants:

Mike Becker has filled out grant forms and applied for three grants; there has been no response from any agency. His calls have not been returned.

Mike will contact the recently appointed Morrison County Land Use/Water Planning Coordinator, Tammy Gangstad, in hopes to obtain some additional information.



Weed Control:

The permit for weed control will be signed and re-sent to PLM , coordinator Pat Selter The water temperature has to be between 50-60 degrees in order that the spraying of curly leaf pondweed can be effective. This will commence as soon as conditions are favorable. More coverage will be done this year: 32 acres of curly leaf in 2008 as compared to 20 acres in 2007; milfoil treatment areas will be 127.5 acres in 2008 compared to 118 in 2007. The DNR did an experimental treatment for curly leaf near the west end public access with double strength chemicals (which was at no expense to the LID) in hopes that treatment will not have to be done for 3-5 years..

Rick Lindmeier will be in contact with Board members when PLM begins the treatment process; several Board members indicated a desire to accompany the PLM when chemical application is being initiated.



Annual General Meeting:

The date for the annual 2008 meeting was set for Saturday, July 12th, at 10:30 A.M. . This will follow the Lake Alexander Property Owners Association Annual Meeting . Dr. Bill Faber, Rob Webb, and Gordy Schenian will be candidates for re-election to the Board. All three have indicated a desire to remain for another term on the Board. The Annual Meeting notice, including date and time, along with seeking property owners who may have desire in obtaining a LID Board position, will be posted on the bulletin board at the Scandia Valley Town Hall and in the next issue of the Morrison County Record.

Ballots and notice of the Annual Meeting will be mailed to each property owner during the first part of June.



Next Board Meeting:

The next scheduled LID Board meeting will be held on Monday, June 23rd at 6:00 P.M. at the Scandia Valley Hall.
